Gabriel stepped out of his apartment and into the streets of Manhattan, with his mail in hand. He forgot to pick it up yesterday. It was a cool November day and the wind was blowing. It had already started to flurry earlier in the week and he expected it to snow anytime soon.
He needed to catch the subway, he was going to be late for class, for the second time this week. He didn't want to give the impression that he was a slacker, on the contrary, he loved this class. Classical Theatre, what could be better? He headed to the subway station as fast as possible.
He barely got there, but he was just in time. As he boarded the subway doors closed and off he went. He finally had the time to sit and read his mail. He had gotten a letter from his best friend Rachel, he hadn't seen her in a couple months since her last visit.
He opened it and as he read he smiled.
"Oh Rachel, always the dreamer." he whispered aloud to himself.
Rachel was coming up to NYC for a couple days, then after she was going to an audition for American Idol. She's practically begging him to come along.
"Might as well." he said to himself as he folded the letter back into the envelope and stuck it into his pocket.
