Karissa walked into the practice room, brushing her fingers across the grand piano that sat in the middle. She sat down at the bench, lifting the lid off the keys, and pressed down on the keys that made the first chord. It sounded lright so far, but it was only the first chord. She played out the introduction to her song, and she sang soflty when the music reached verse one.
"When I am down and oh my soul's so weary When troubles come and my heart burdened be"
Karissa's voice was still sounding alright with this song, and she was glad she picked it.
"Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.
Here the piano accompaniment grew louder, and she gladly hammered out the notes, a chill running down her spine, the music for the piano always gave her chills.
["You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be."
She smiled softly to herself, the second verse was just around the corner, the accompaniment grew soft once again.
"There is no life - no life without its hunger; Each restless heart beats so imperfectly; But when you come and I am filled with wonder, Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity."
Once agin, the chorus, the crescendo flowed from inside the piano, and once it got to the high point, Karissa continued.
"You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be."
The last time the music would grow quiet, the last chorus of the song, and Karissa returned to her soft voice to finish it off.
"You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up: To more than I can be."
She smiled, the song was over, the last few notes of the piano rang through the room, and Karissa remained, satisfied.

Gabriel walked into the practice room. Amazed at the size of it, there was enough room to do choreography if he really ever needed too. Gabriel sat at the bench in front of the grand piano. It was big. He'd never played such a big piano before. He had a smaller one in his family's living room while he was growing up though. Gabriel tapped a few notes out and it didn't sound too bad. His fingers were warmed up and he was ready to sing his song. Then he thought. "UUmmm... nevermind." he said aloud. Gabriel picked up the guitar he had brought with him, he knew he was a pro at the guitar versus the piano. Rachel let him borrow it for his journey in the competition. "I guess I'll do Against All Odds. It wasn't ever specified which version of the song but Gabriel chose the Postal Service version because it fit his voice much better than the Phil Collins version. He began strumming along. "Not to bad." he thought as he played the tune. Then he took a breath and began. How can I just let you walk away Just let you leave without a trace When I stand here
His voice was cracking a bit. He coughed and continued.
Taking every breath with you You're the only one who really knew me at all
Much better. His voice was flowing with the notes.
How can you just walk away from me When all I can do is watch you leave? 'cause we shared the laughter and the pain And evenn shared the tears You're the only one who really knew me at all
Getting better. He reminds himself he needs to warm up more before singing. Here comes the chorus.
So take a look at me now There's just an empty space There's nothing left here to remind me just the memory of your face Take a look at me now there's just an empty space you coming back to me is against the odds and that's what i've gotta face
Nailed it. He's doing well. Practice will make things much easier and make him feel more confident during the actual performance.
I wish I could just make you turn around Turn around and see me cry There's so much I need to say to you So many reasons why You're the only one who really knew me at all
So take a look at me now There's just an empty space There's nothing left here to remind me Just the memory of your face [/i] Not bad, still keeping the voice up, making sure the pitches match the notes. Take a look at me now There's just an empty space And to wait for you is all I can do And that's what I've got to faceHas to keep up the tempo. Let the voice match the notes. Get more into it. Take a look at me now I'm just standing here And you coming back to me Is against the odds And that's a chance I've got to faceHere we go. The end. Change some of them up. Hold them out for the entire time. Don't make it song like moaning, but singing. So take a look at me now Take a look at me now Take a look at me now Take a look at me now Take a look at me now Take a look at me now Take a look at me now Take a look at me now[/center] He finishes strumming the last notes. Gabriel feels he can do much better but it's good to practice before the real deal so he knows the notes and pitches of his voice match up. Gabriel sighs, smiles, takes the guitar and leaves the room to see what all he can get himself into.

Walks in with the pages to the song which on them contains the lyrics to Whitney Houston's One Moment in Time She sits down sets the pages up and begins to play and sings Each day I live I want to be a day to give the best of me I'm only one, but not alone My finest day is yet unknown I broke my heart for every gain To taste the sweet, I faced the pain I rise and fall, Yet through it all this much remains
I want one moment in time When I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams Are a heart beat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time When I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment of time I will feel, I will feel eternity
I've lived to be the very best I want it all, no time for less I've laid the plans Now lay the chance here in my hands
Give me one moment in time When I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams Are a heart beat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time When I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment of time I will feel, I will feel eternity
You're a winner for a lifetime If you seize that one moment in time Make it shine
Give me one moment in time When I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams Are a heart beat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time When I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment of time I will be, I will be, I will be free, I will be, I will be free
When she is done she can still hear the music and feel it. She exits the room with the pages

Steven walked into the practice room and gasped. He saw it there, boldly standing on the stage floor, sparkling in all its glory. It was the piano, the instrument Steven had practiced for a great majority of his life. He could play the piano fairly well, having been professionally trained.
As soon as he was given the list of songs, one of them jumped right out at him: "Back At One". He had loved this song ever since it came out, and has even practiced it on the piano before.
He sat down on the piano and before singing, did a vocal warm-up. Playing the piano made him feel a lot more at ease, it brightened his mood.
It’s undeniable that we should be together It’s unbelievable, how I used to say that I’d fall never The basis is need to know If you don't know just how I feel Then let me show you that now I’m for real If all things in time, time will reveal
His voice was a little crackly still. However, he was glad he picked this song. It's in his range, it's a great melody, and it's well written. He couldn't relate it to anyone though, now that he didn't have feelings for anybody.
One, you’re like a dream come true Two, just wanna be with you Three, girl it’s plain to see That you’re the only one for me and Four, repeat steps one through three Five, make you fall in love with me If ever I believe my work is done Then I’ll start back at one
He sang the chorus well with a soft tone, careful to not oversing it.
It’s so incredible, the way things work themselves out And all emotional, once you know what it’s all about, hey And undesirable, for us to be apart I never would’ve made it very far ’cause you know you agot the keys to my heart ’cause...
One, you’re like a dream come true Two, just wanna be with you Three, girl it’s plain to see That you’re the only one for me and Four, repeat steps one through three Five, make you fall in love with me If ever I believe my work is done Then I’ll start back at one
Finally, the next part of the song, that he knew if he practiced enough, he could really wow everyone.
Say farewell to the dark of night I see the coming of the sun I feel like a little child, whose life has just begun You came and breathed new life into this lonely heart of mine You threw out the life line Just in the nick of time
He tried to reach the high note of the "time" note, but fell flat. That note could make the whole performance amazing if he hit it. He sang that part over again until he noticed he was starting to sing it better. Still, he wanted to practice it more, but he wanted to finish the song first.
One, you’re like a dream come true Two, just wanna be with you Three, girl it’s plain to see That you’re the only one for me and Four, repeat steps one through three Five, make you fall in love with me If ever I believe my work is done Then I’ll start back at one
"I've gotta work on that one note," he thought to himself. He was ambitious and worked on the whole song, paying particular attention to the part with the higher note. He was sounding a lot better after a couple practices. Though he knew if he wanted to hit that note perfectly, it would take a LOT more practice than just a couple hours.
After a good amount of time practicing, he yawned. He played around with the piano for a couple minutes, then left the practice room.

She was up on the stage... mic in hand and the intro music was streaming along. She was alone at that point... unlike what she would have to face... but that was not the concern. If Jess really wanted this.... she had to work for it. It was her time.... and it starts now...
The song began... and she went right into her part.
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be; Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.
Her voice was low for the beginning... but strong. She had to excel.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up... To more than I can be.
It was the instrumental break..... she continued to go out strong.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up... To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up... To more than I can be.
Her voice was strong... her movement and actions on stage were definitely active. She sang that song so strong for herself... that teary eyes appeared. She loved the passion... the moment of the piece. She just wanted to share her emotion with the others.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up... To more than I can be.
The last part was low.... to show emotion.....
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
She paused....sighed..... and waited for the music to end..... She noted what mistakes she made in the repetition of the song.. and that she can work on when it came to pitch. It wasn't long now. She smiled and sat down on the stage... waiting for the music to end slowly.....

Steven went back to the piano and decided to work on his song more. He played it bit by bit on the piano first, then sang it while playing the piano, making sure he hit each and every note on key, especially the higher ones.
